WHAT IT MEANS TO BE FAMILY AT GRACE

FOLLOWING JESUS

Following Jesus is the heart of discipleship, the starting point and the end goal, to know and follow Jesus in every aspect of life. A disciple is simply someone who follows Jesus, is being transformed by the gospel, and is living on mission with the Spirit. Jesus said, follow me and I will make you fishers of people.

(Mark 1:17)

AUTHENTIC DIVERSITY

We strive for genuine unity in the midst of diversity and for committed relationships between people who otherwise would remain separated. We trust that this witness of reconciliation will result in many more women and men worshipping around the throne of God, celebrating His Kingdom and His reign.

(Revelation 7:9-10)

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY

Community exists for the sake of God’s glory. Our FAMILY groups are communities on mission. Mission is not an add-on to community but a catalyzer for deeper connection. A community on mission does life together. A community on mission is for each other. A community on mission reflects the Kingdom of God.

(Acts 2:42-47)

IMPACT THE CITY

When we impact the city through prayer, advocacy, and intentional service, we see schools thrive, community partners flourish and families restored. The Lord said, seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you and pray on its behalf, for in its peace, you will have peace.

(Jeremiah 29:7)

LIVING FROM THE GOSPEL

What does it mean to live FROM the gospel? The gospel is our foundation. It is the good news of Jesus Christ. We want to grow in knowing the depths of the good news in our life and in our community. We love because we were loved first by God.

(1 John 4:19)

YIELDING TO THE SPIRIT

Yielding to the Spirit means we are open to the Holy Spirit’s leading as individuals and as a community. We will seek His gifts, that we might grow in them, so that they can be displayed in and through us as we live naturally supernatural lives. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!”

(2 Corinthians 3:17)

Our Beliefs

  • About God

We believe in one God, eternally being in three persons–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–these three being identical in essence, and possessing the same attributes and perfections.  The Holy Trinity.

  • About the Bible

We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, to be the verbally inspired Word of God, written by men in God’s control, without error in the original manuscripts, and the final authority in faith and life.

  • About Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.  He became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin, in order that He might reveal God and redeem us all.  He voluntarily gave Himself as a sinless sacrifice on the cross, dying in our place, and satisfying God’s righteous judgments against our sin.  His resurrection from the grave confirmed our redemption. He then ascended to the right hand of His Father where He intercedes on behalf of those who trust Him today.

  • About Humanity

We believe that men and women are created in the image and likeness of God.  In Adam’s sin, humanity was separated from the life of God and inherited a sinful nature.  Men and women are incapable of remedying our sinful condition by our own efforts.

  • About Salvation

We believe that salvation from sin is the gift of God’s grace. It cannot be gained by good works, but is freely given to all who put their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. All who so trust the Savior, Jesus Christ, are forgiven of their past, present, and future sins and are born into the family of God by the work of the Holy Spirit. It is their privilege to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation.
