Let's Connect the Stories

1. TREASURE — The Pearl of Great Price The landowner gave the tenants a vineyard that was already prepared for them. What did they fail to recognize about the value of what they had been given? How does that connect to the treasure and the pearl?

2. SOW — The Generous Sower The sower kept scattering seeds on all kinds of soil. The landowner kept sending servants, even when they were rejected. What do these two stories teach us about God's generosity?

3. MAKE ROOM — The Great Expansion The tenants wanted things their way. They weren't willing to listen or change. Where do you see the need to make room for God in this story?

4. FORGIVE — The Unforgiving Servant The king showed mercy to a servant who owed him a great debt. The landowner kept showing patience to tenants who rejected him. What do these stories teach us about God's mercy and patience?

5. REORIENT — Bigger Barns The rich man wanted to keep everything for himself. The tenants wanted to own what belonged to the landowner. What do these two stories teach us about greed and wanting control?

6. RECEIVE — The Relentless Landowner The landowner had already provided everything needed for the vineyard to produce fruit. What was he asking the tenants to do? What does that teach us about receiving what God has already given us?

Bringing It All Together

  1. As we look at all six stories, what have we learned about who God is? What do you see about His character that you may not have noticed before?
  2. Of all six studies, which one challenged you the most, and why?
  3. Marshall ended Sunday's message asking, "God is relentless. Will you relent and receive?" What is something you feel God has been asking you to stop resisting and receive?
  4. We've spent six weeks learning these stories together. How can we help each other live them out beyond our Thursday evenings?--- What are some prayers we can continue to pray for each other?

One final thought for the group

What I love about these stories is that they aren't just telling us what we should do. They're showing us who God is.

He's the treasure worth finding, the generous sower, the one who makes room for us, the forgiving King, the Father who provides, and the relentless landowner who keeps coming after us.
